Hello Friends!
Finishing the entire D&C text without annotations or commentary proved to be a much larger project than anticipated (and to be honest, painfully tedious). I now thoroughly understand why committees have been created and funded by wealthy donors to do similar projects in the past.
In the attached PDF, I also include introductory material (many updates since last time) that explains many of the technical decisions and challenges involved in creating a “pure” version of what Joseph approved in 1844 with changes made by Joseph Smith and his committee.
Please note: this has not gone through a final editing/vetting process and the conversion from docx to pdf created some challenges for the TOC. However, the TOC is digitally linked so you can go from one section to another quickly if the TOC is in a separate pane.

The JSV (Joseph Smith Version) team originally requested original punctuation and spelling. However, after further research and reviewing many passages where such an approach was problematic and made the text overly difficult to read and understand, the team reversed its decision so I went back and modernized all spelling and punctuation (since the last update - hence the surprising time delay). I left problematic and antiquated grammar problems for a future edition and explain the reasoning behind this in the introductory materials. Thus, this, attached JSV D&C will largely be (but not entirely) identical to what I’ll be using in the D&C Annotated with Commentary series that I started publishing last year. For those simply wanting a scripture version they can rely upon, there will be no difference. For those wanting a study version with a little more intrusion upon the text in the form of footnotes and modernized grammar at times, there will be some differences — all of which will be documented for review.
If you have any friends or associates who you feel would be blessed by this project or my podcast or newsletter, please hit the share button below. The more eyes I have reviewing my work the better it will be and the better chance I can finish this sooner than later.
I now have a digital store with nearly everything I’ve published available in ebook format (including some pamphlets) and more audiobooks will be available before Christmas. This is the link to that store. Payhip doesn’t retain the same high percentage of sales as Amazon so more of those sales go toward helping keep this project moving. If you’re interested in an audiobook not yet on Payhip and its available on Substack as a popdcast, let me know via a private message and I’ll get one to you directly so you don’t have to wait too long.
Take care and God bless!
