Drew I find this interesting, but I have been searching for more information on the 72 blows to adam and I have not been successful. Can you direct me in the right direction? Thank you.

Off of the top of my head, I cannot - I'll try to put some time into looking for those soon (I'm still unpacking from a move and the binder with that stuff is ... somewhere) - remind me if you don't see a podcast that addresses this in the next week or so. However, I'm pretty sure the Book of Adam and Eve and several pseudepigrapha that focus on them mention it. The Martyrdom and Ascension of Isaiah refers to temple curses (cryptically) and probably has some mention of them. Don't forget, it is often 70 blows of death or even 7 blows of death and sometimes when searching, you just see references to eyes that cannot see or ears that cannot hear coupled with other notable body parts. I know it shows up frequently in Mandaean (you have to spell it correctly but spell check will tell you that you're wrong) literature so that is also a good place to start. As I recall, there are a few Mandaean poems that focus on these blows without naming them as such.
