Yes - the biggest challenge is that we took philosophy out of schools and thereby crippled critical thinking that was the foundation of western civilization and then falsely branded it as a tool of heretics. We have largely lost our ability to open our minds to seriously empathize with opposing perspectives or to even see multiple perspectives at once without someone else pointing them out to us.
