I tried to find your reference to D&C 130:22 in an old issue of the D&C and there isn't a Section 130 in the 1835 edition and the 1844 edition. Where do I find the reference that was quoted that differs from the current D&C or the revelation from 1843?

So if the Holy Ghost does not have a tabernacle (JD 6:95) then what kind of personage is this? Is there such a being as a non-tabernacled personage? Thus can I conclude that a "personage of spirit" is not considered to possess a "tabernacle." I think I'm fairly confused and can't seem to find references that undo that confusion. And then to muddy it a bit further, there are some general authorities back in that day that alluded to Joseph Smith as the Holy Ghost (now tabernacled) and so it gets deeper. (JD 5:179, Ehat, Words of Joseph Smith p 245) and more... Fascinating right? I guess I need to listen to the podcast again

Here is a super helpful website for this type of question: https://comparedandc.com/

The 1840 JSV edition has D&C 130 (my recent publication). D&C 130 wasn't cannonized until 1876. The original version, in the original sources are as I explained. The reference to the changes and citations are in my 1844 D&C JSV edition. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DWKNCQZ6/

The Holy Ghost has a spirit but not a "tabernacle" or body. That's also in D&C 130.

Yes, a non-tabernacled "personage" sort of exists. An intelligence exists without a spirit. However, generally, we're not considered a "person" until we've obtained a spirit. At least, that seems to be how the early brethren would have described this.

Yeah - several believed Joseph Smith was the Holy Ghost even shortly after he died and some sources suggest saints believed that before he died. That said, both Orson Pratt and Brigham Young opposed that teaching vehemently and said what Joseph was referring to was his blood lineage tracing back to the savior. Still, there are several quotes to justify that belief. Those will be in my upcoming reincarnation book that I podcasted about today.

Lots of interesting theology to discuss, huh?
